An Innovative Cleaning Technology Integrated into ACS Special-Purpose Machines for Connector Manufacturing
Enhancing the Quality of Connectivity Components
Connector performance and reliability depend on numerous factors, with component cleanliness being one of the most critical. As part of its continuous improvement strategy, ACS has integrated a new automated cleaning technology into its special-purpose production equipment.
This solution is designed to clean both assembled components and packaging materials used throughout the manufacturing process. Its objective is straightforward: to efficiently remove contaminants from components prior to packaging.
Reducing Particle Contamination During Electrical Connector Assembly
Various manufacturing operations, including stamping, plastic injection moulding and assembly, can generate different types of contamination. These may include plastic particles, metallic debris, textile fibres and airborne dust.
Although often invisible to the naked eye, such contaminants can impact the quality and performance of electrical connectors and interfere with assembly processes. Contamination control is therefore a key requirement in the production of connectivity solutions for highly demanding industries.
Advanced Cleaning Technology for Industrial and Automotive Connectivity
To address this challenge, ACS has implemented a cleaning system combining three complementary technologies: ionisation, air blowing and vacuum extraction.
Ionisation neutralises the electrostatic charges naturally present on plastic components, facilitating particle release.
The air-blowing system generates a controlled vortex that effectively removes contaminants from surfaces as well as hard-to-reach areas.
Integrated vacuum extraction immediately captures the dislodged particles, preventing their redeposition on the components.
Tangible Benefits for Connector Quality and Manufacturing Reliability
The implementation of this technology significantly reduces particulate contamination on assembled components and carrier tapes.
This improvement enhances component quality, secures assembly operations and ensures a higher level of cleanliness before packaging. It also contributes to greater process reliability and supports compliance with the stringent requirements of the automotive connector industry.
ACS Continues to Drive Innovation in Connector Manufacturing
This development demonstrates ACS’s ability to design and integrate advanced solutions that meet the evolving requirements of the electrical connector market.
By continuously investing in new manufacturing technologies, ACS remains committed to delivering high-performance, reliable connectivity solutions that comply with the industry’s most demanding quality standards.
